Discard the outside and inside - eat the part in the middle

We are beg fans of Farmers' Markets. There some great ones in Minneapolis and there are great ones here. Part of the attraction is the show of the experience. Different cultures and foods are on full display. I take photos just because of unique opportunities

The fruits you find in Hawaii are different. No one is selling Honeycrisp apples or watermelon. Just for the record it must also be difficult to grow a decent tomato here. You might expect bananas and pineapple. Don't buy full sized bananas or yellow pineapple at a farmers' market. They were likely purchased at COSTCO for a fraction of the price. Bananas should be short and Pineapples should be white and expensive if locally grown. Beyond that try different things. There are fewer samples available because of COVID so you will have to purchase.

This guide may help. A photo of the purchases from a recent trip follows. The red hairy things are  rambutan and the small brown things are Longan. In both cases, you split the outer covering to get at the thin middle layer over an internal nut. This seems a lot of work for little to eat, but it is an experience. I suppose eating sunflower seeds also seems similar. BTW - the bananas are the type found here - apple bananas. These are very good to my midwest palate.

There used to be a brat guy here, but so far we have not seen him again. I always talk with the brat guys.
