Acalypha

We have been relaxing for a few days without taking many outings. We are looking to get our hair cut, but that is not a unusual event for most people. It is surprisingly difficult to find a barber on Kauai and a stylist is wasted on me. Coast Guard boats and helicopters have been patrolling off our cove as there was another drowning just up the coast and the body has yet to be recovered. This seems to happen at least once a year during our trips. The story always seems the same - tourist overestimates his or her water skills, gets out a little too far, and ends up being carried off by a rip current.

I did find a new plant along today's walk - Acalypha hispida or chenile plant - according to my handy plant identifier.
