The Big Island was rocked today by an expose on coffee culture. Instead of pure Kona, you daily brew could possibly be cut with Folgers.
Pure Kona coffee seems to go here for $26 at best. I do like the lightness of this variety, but I don't like it enough to pay a premium.
There is a political angle to this problem. The issue is the lack of inspectors who can certify the source of the green beans and can follow these beans through to consumers.
